I guess I missed the part of piercing of the armor. Still that seems like a bad hole in the story to make them melt it down. The saber part I just didn’t understand cause it just didn’t make sense as a light saber. But I watched the episode with Ashoka over again snd it makes more sense now.

I’m sure you guys don’t read these but...the reason they melt down the spear is because beskar spears are forbidden because they can pierce their armor, it’s melted down to provide armor for more foundlings. They also explain the dark Saber is heavy because he’s fighting it and needs to learn how to use it. This is all explained by the armorer.
